These pieces were shaped on an anvil. Welded from behind because the material doesn't wrap all the way around. Since the back will be up against rock above a fireplace, a shaped piece will be added behind after welding.
Steve and Deb Bentz, Owners of Mayfly Lodge, located in Vernon County in southwest Wisconsin, asked me to build a replica of their lodge logo, a Mayfly.
Although a challenge, I accecpted. It just has to be BIG. Maximum length, 63".
I will combine mild steel, 18 guage sheet and stainless steel.
Have you ever looked at metal art and wondered how it was made? I expect most of you would say no. I hope to do a small part to change that. There are many great metal artists in the world, so I have to take my metal work the extra step or two to get noticed, hopefully. I will be adding pictures of my work as it progresses from one stage to another. You can visit the Gallery on my website to see how other works were created http://www.pearsonmetalart.com
